With a veteran care contract through the VA, the agency offers essential home care services to those who have served in the military, ensuring they receive the support they need to maintain their independence and well-being.
A Commitment to Veteran Care
Affordable Senior Home Care specializes in providing registered nurses (RNs) and certified home health aides to seniors in the community. However, Kevin focused on a critical area of service—assisting veterans through their VA contract, which allows eligible veterans to receive up to 40 hours of in-home care per week.
Kevin noted a shift in the veteran population receiving care. While World War II and Korean War veterans were once common clients, there has been a growing need for services among Vietnam veterans. Many of these veterans are unaware of the benefits available to them through the VA, which can provide significant in-home support at no cost to the veteran.
A surprising statistic shared during the talk was that Ocean County is home to approximately 35,000 veterans, yet only 13,000 are actively participating in VA programs. Many veterans, especially those who served during the Vietnam era, do not realize they are eligible for these services.

- Errands & Transportation – Assistance with doctor’s appointments, grocery shopping, and other essential trips

Veterans can qualify for anywhere between 11 and 40 hours of care per week, depending on their individual needs.
How to Apply for Home Care Services
Veterans who are not yet enrolled in VA healthcare should begin by visiting the new VA Clinic in Toms River to register for services.
For veterans who are already in the VA system, the process includes:
- Contacting Affordable Senior Home Care – Kevin and his team can connect veterans with a VA social worker to start the process.
- Scheduling a VA Physician Appointment – A VA doctor will evaluate the veteran’s needs and determine their eligibility.
- Approval & Social Worker Assignment – Once approved, a VA social worker assigns a care plan and refers services to Affordable Senior Home Care.
- Receiving In-Home Care Services – Veterans begin receiving personalized, in-home care that supports their daily needs.
